Brinell hardness tester YCAM-BR
The Brinell hardness test is one method for determining the hardness of thermoformed metal materials.
The hardness is determined by the diameter of the indentation created when a metal ball indenter is pressed against a metal material at a specified pressure.
Easy-to-use measuring tool that does not require expertise
Our Brinell hardness tester uses a camera head to photograph indentations and extracts the edges of the indentations through image processing. Therefore, it eliminates the operator-induced variations that are a concern with optical inspection devices.
The handheld camera head is lightweight and easy to handle, allowing even female workers to work for extended periods.

Compliant with various certification standards.
In addition to the proven “JCSS” and “A2LA” standards, we have now added support for the “NK Certification” testing regulations. Standard certification is possible if you request it from an accredited calibration laboratory. *This service requires ordering it as a set with the indentation creation device.
Features
Lightweight and easy-to-grip camera head
The camera head is lightweight at approximately 600g. The grip has a low center of gravity, allowing for stable operation during measurements. There is a push button on the grip.
Measurement work can be performed using only the camera head.
GigE Vision standard adopted
USB-type camera heads have limitations due to communication range and noise issues, restricting measurements to areas far from the main unit. However, the GigE Vision specification supports the maximum transmission distance of the Ethernet standard, making it ideal for inspecting large objects.
Furthermore, the connection between the main unit and the camera head can be detached using an M12-RJ45 connector, making cable replacement easy.
Because it uses PoE (Power over Ethernet), it can be used simply by connecting a single LAN cable.
Accurate measurement using ring illumination
Our previous models used coaxial incident illumination, but with this method, the light did not reflect off the raised areas around the indentation created by the indenter, making accurate edge detection impossible.
With ring illumination, light enters from around the lens, enabling accurate edge detection without affecting raised areas.
Simple dustproof and splashproof specifications
The main unit uses an industrial touch panel PC. The front panel is IP65 rated.
The main unit case is also sealed with gaskets, making it usable even in dusty environments.

Easy maintenance
The tip of the camera head is screw-in type and can be extended and retracted, so even if the focus becomes misaligned after years of use, it can be easily adjusted.
Furthermore, calibration, which is necessary for accurate testing, can be easily performed simply by taking a picture of the dedicated board.
*A dedicated calibration board and tools are required.

Instructions for selecting a variety and performing measurement.
This explains the measurement procedure for YCAM-BR. In the video, after selecting the pre-configured variety, we will test by switching between two conditions: 3000 kgf/10 mm and 750 kgf/5 mm using the HBW150 reference sample.
